January 2021 | SANCCOB launched a comprehensive rescue and rehabilitation effort for approximately 2,000 abandoned Cape Cormorant chicks discovered at two critical nesting sites. The chicks were suffering from dehydration and heat stress. Through this unprecedented intervention, 54% of the rescued cormorant chicks were successfully rehabilitated and reintroduced to their breeding colonies. |
